Funimation and Fuji TV have teamed up to announce a brand new anime from the folks at production house Science SARU (Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!), and this one has none other than director Naoko Yamada (A Silent Voice, Liz and the Blue Bird) at the helm. Titled The Heike Story, the anime is based on Hideo Furukawa’s translation of THE TALE OF THE HEIKE, and Funimation has locked in the exclusive streaming premiere for Wednesday, September 15.
Voice cast members include Aoi Yuki as Biwa and Takahiro Sakurai as Taira no Shigemori. Alongside Naoko Yamada as director, the series boasts series composition by Reiko Yoshida and music by Kensuke Ushio. Check out the first preview below.
Fuji TV’s on-demand service will stream the first episode of the series for 24 hours on the same day it premieres via Funimation, but the Fuji TV Ultra+ broadcast debut won’t come until January 2022, so Funimation is getting this one fairly early.
