My Love Story With Yamada-kun at Lv999 Shares Trailer, Valentine Image

loving yamada at lv999!

The upcoming anime My Love Story With Yamada-kun at Lv999, based on the manga Loving Yamada at Lv999! (Or Yamada-kun to Lv999 no Koi wo Suru in Japanese) has dropped a trailer.

We also learned that the music is being composed by DÉ DÉ MOUSE of Wonder Egg Priority and Mito from Clammbon. And two new actors were unveiled: Natsuki Hanae plays Eita Sasaki and Ai Kakuma plays Runa Sasaki. It had previously been announced that Inori Minase will play Akane and Kouki Uchiyama will play Yamada.

And because today is Valentine’s Day and the story has a romantic angle, the anime also shared this holiday-themed image.

The anime is being made at Madhouse, with Morio Asaka of CardCaptor Sakura and My Love Story!! helming the project as the director. The person in charge of series scripts is Yasuhiro Nakanishi, who is known for working on A Couple of Cuckoos and Kaguya-sama: Love is War. The task of character design goes to Kunihiko Hamada.

The original manga by Mashiro is a popular title on the digital app Mangamo. Mangamo gave this description for the story:

“Recently dumped, Akane is just about to quit the game she used to play with her boyfriend, when she meets Yamada in the same RPG. Yamada in real life turns out to be somewhat of a legend. The only problem is – he is ONLY interested in the game. As Akane’s feelings grow, will Yamada’s focus stay on the game?”

Over in Japan, more than a million copies of the manga are out in circulation. Loving Yamada at Lv999!, which first started to be published in 2018, also took home the Grand Prize in the 6th Annual Tsutaya Comic Awards last year. The sixth volume was just released in Japan in October 2022.
