A new trailer has dropped for the anime My Deer Friend Nokotan (a.k.a. Shikanoko Nokonoko Koshitantan in Japanese). In it we can hear the theme songs, and it also gives us more information on the cast. The show starts July 7.

The opening theme song is titled “Shikairo Days” (translated as “Deer-Colored Days”) and performed by VAs Megumi Han, Saki Fujita, Rui Tanabe, and Fūka Izumi playing their characters from the show. The ending theme song is called “Shika-senbei no Uta” (translated as “The Deer Food Song”) and performed by Han and Fujita, but not with the rest of the cast.

As for the acting talent unveiled in the trailer, Yurika Kubo plays Neko Nekoyamada, Rio Tsuchiya plays Kinu Tanukikōji, and Chinatsu Akasaki plays Chiharu Tsubameya. These characters are on the school student council.

It was revealed earlier that Megumi Han plays Noko “Nokotan” Shikanoko, Saki Fujita plays Torako “Koshitan” Koshi, Rui Tanabe plays Anko Koshi, Fūka Izumi plays Meme Bashame, and Kōsuke Toriumi is the narrator.

The anime is being made at Wit Studio, with Masahiko Ohta of Minami-ke helming the project as director. The scripts are being penned by Takashi Aoshima, while Yasuhiro Misawa takes care of composing the music. Credit for character design goes to Ayumu Tsujimura.

Seven Seas Entertainment publishes the original manga by Oshioshio and gave this description for its plot:

No one knows Torako used to be a delinquent. All of her classmates only know her as the perfect student. But everything changes when Nokotan, a transfer student with antlers, enters her life. Antlers aren’t the only thing strange about Nokotan. Her deer nose can sniff out Torako’s secret past! Whether it’s at school or the zoo, chaos follows this doe-eyed girl’s every step. Torako has so many questions! Is Nokotan a deer, a girl, or something in-between?
