Murai in Love, the anime adaptation of the rom-com manga by Junta Shima, has announced when it’ll hit streaming and the good ol’ airwaves. In Japan, the series will hit Disney+ on September 4, then it’ll start airing October 6.
Along with that news came some more reveals: extra cast members, opening theme news, a new piece of key art and even a fresh trailer.
The opening theme will be Rinu from group Strawberry Prince. It’s titled “Henshin!” (“Transformation!”), and you can hear a snippet of it in the new trailer. The previously released trailer gave us a preview of the ending theme, “Suko” by Yabai T-Shirt Ya-san.
The new cast members are:
Saori Goto as Yuka Nishifuji
Mikoi Sasaki as Hitomi Nishifuji
Yuuki Hirose as Yayoi Fukunaga
The Murai in Love anime has Yoshiki Yamakawa (Hi Score Girl) directing, with Susumu Yamakawa (The Way of the Househusband) on scripts for the J.C. Staff production.
The series follows a high school teacher who loves otome games named Tanaka, and a high school boy named Murai who is in love with Tanaka. Murai confesses but is rejected by Tanaka, who has never been in a real-life romance before. This might change, however, when Murai makes a move and transforms himself into the exact likeness of a beloved character from Tanaka’s favorite otome game.
The manga ran from 2018 to 2022 on Line Manga and has been compiled into seven volumes.
