Miyazaki Heading to CA for Appearance in July

To many, this will sort of be like catching a glimpse of a magical forest creature, and those with San Diego Comic Con plans will be crushed to find that Hayao Miyazaki’s emergence coincides with that monster event. On July 25th, the esteemed director will be paying a visit to California, more specifically the Center for Japanese Studies at UC Berkeley, to receive the second annual Berkeley Japan Prize for lifetime achievement.

This rare event is thanks in part to the aforementioned award, as well as a contractual obligation with Disney to make a US appearance. Miyazaki will also be participating in a talk with Roland Kelts, adding even more incentive for those hoping to see the man in person. So, SDCC attendees, go ahead and start twisting this mighty dilemma around in your head… now!
