3 Life Lessons from Magilumiere Magical Girls Inc.

Magilumiere Magical Girls Inc. has a few solid lessons for its viewers!

Magilumiere Magical Girls Inc. is casting its spell on the fall anime season. Based on the manga by Sekka Iwata and Yu Aoki, this series reimagines the magical girl life as gainful employment. A mix of tech and magic powers these high-flying full-timers, whose job consists largely of exterminating monsters known as Kaii. But as Kana Sakuragi acclimates to her new job, she teaches us a few valuable life lessons.

Whether it’s a matter of what you love, why you work hard, or how you spend your downtime, this series has wise words for viewers. Join us as we look deeper into this season’s all-grown-up magical girl series!

Your Interests Aren’t Embarrassing

Kana on the job

As Magilumiere Magical Girls Inc. begins, we meet Kana on her way to multiple job interviews. There’s just one problem: her enthusiasm comes across more as a hindrance than a help to many companies. And while her deep knowledge of every company she visits may seem disingenuous, it’s fully earnest. That’s her talent: she loves to learn and she’s good at it. And when a certain magical girl startup learns this, she finally finds her home.

Many of us get told throughout our lives to “tone it down” or be quieter about things we love. Whether that’s a certain skill set, hobby, or area of expertise, it can be gutting to be silenced. But as we see with Kana, the right people will not only accept our interests, but embrace us along with them.

Take Some Time Off

Hitomi and Kana

Anime of late isn’t shy about calling out overwork. And while Magilumiere Magical Girls Inc. is an office comedy and its office workers do work a lot, they do other things. In a recent episode, Kana joins her new coworkers for a night of karaoke. It’s a chance to unwind, learn about each other, and cut loose. Heck, Hitomi goes on PTO for part of the season.

Unfortunately, not all of us are in a position to pick our workplaces or dictate our schedules. But even in an office show, we get a reminder that our lives shouldn’t be all about our work… even if we’ve got a dream job. Time off and recreational time are important for multiple reasons, one of which is the need to…

Remember What This Is All For

The company Magilumiere is a relatively small player in the magical girl scene, but they’ve got passion. And company president Shigemoto reminds his tiny workforce of the importance of what they do. On that same karaoke night, he lays out his motivation: protecting happy moments like these.

Sometimes… often, actually… work is just work. It’s a way to pay bills and there doesn’t have to be anything deeper to it. But most of us have something we devote time to about which we’re passionate. Whether that’s a job, a hobby, our family, or something else, it’s important to remember why. Are you chasing a dream? Helping the people you care about most? Whatever the reason, stop to take a look around and re-center. Remind yourself of why (and take breaks when you can!), and come back invigorated.

Magilumiere Magical Girls Inc. is now streaming on Amazon Prime.
