Nostalgia is in the air with the announcement of a new live-action Pokémon drama. While it may not take place in the fictional world of Pokémon, it does center on a woman who rediscovers her love for the classic Gen 1 entries in the series. The title is Pocket ni Boken o Tsumekonde (Pack Your Pockets With Adventure) and it’s set to kick off in Japan on October 19.
The drama follows Madoka Akagi, who is played by Nanase Nishino (Hiromi in Shin Kamen Rider), a Pokémon fan in real life. Her character grew up playing Pokémon and gets a Game Boy Pocket and a copy of Pokémon Red as a present from her family as she moves to Tokyo to pursue her dreams. Thus begins her new adventure and rekindled fascination with the classics.
BABEL LABEL’s Shota Hatanaka is planning and producing the series, which has TV Tokyo and Pokémon Inc. collaborating. Pocket ni Boken o Tsumekonde will air as part of TV Tokyo’s MokuDora24 slot.
