November 28, 2024 will mark the worldwide streaming debut of the live-action Oshi no Ko drama, which is an eight-episode series that’s on the way to Amazon Prime Video. A feature film will follow in Japan on December 20, and now the project is being teased in a new trailer and visual.

Smith—who has worked on music videos for the likes of NMB48 and Kishidan—directs the film, and also directs the drama series alongside Hana Matsumoto (HKT48, TrySail and Kana Hanazawa music videos). The main cast includes Kaito Sakurai as Aqua Hoshino, Asuka Saito as Ai Hoshino, Nagisa Saito as Ruby Hoshino, Nanoka Hara as Kana Arima, Mizuki Kayashima as Akane Kurokawa and ano as Mem-cho.
Daisuke Hiramaki directed the Oshi no Ko anime, with animation production by Doga Kobo. Manga Plus publishes the English version of Aka Akasaka and Mengo Yokoyari’s manga digitally and describes it like so:
“In the world of showbiz, lies are weapons.” Goro works as an OB-GYN in the countryside, a life far removed from the entertainment industry. Meanwhile, his favorite idol, Ai Hoshino, has begun her climb to stardom. The two meet in the “worst possible way,” setting the gears of fate in motion!
