The live-action movie version of My Love Story With Yamada-kun at Lv999 just dropped a trailer with the theme song “Now Loading” by Macaroni Enpitsu.

It’s scheduled to hit Japanese theaters on March 28.
Looking toward the cast, Ryūto Sakuma plays Akito Yamada Mizuki Yamashita plays Akane Kinoshita, NOA plays Eita Sasaki, Rui Tsukishima plays Runa Sasaki, Mogura Suzuki plays Takezo Kamota, Mahiru Coda plays Momoko Maeda, Mizuki Kayashima plays Yukari Tsubaki, and Ōshirō Maeda plays Takeaki Okamoto.
The script is being penned by Anna Kawahara of Dragons of Wonderhatch, while Yuka Yasukawa is in the director’s seat. Distribution will be handled by Kadokawa.
My Love Story With Yamada-kun started out as a manga by Mashiro, and it also has an anime adaptation going on, which is available for streaming on Crunchyroll.
You can check out Otaku USA’s interview with Mashiro, where the creator states, “I love games. I thought I could handle gaming culture in manga because there are some game titles I played a lot and I am well versed in games.” Plus there’s this Otaku USA interview with the manga’s translator Nate Derr on working on Yamada-kun and what he thinks of AI translations.

Recently dumped, Akane is just about to quit the game she used to play with her boyfriend, when she meets Yamada in the same RPG. Yamada in real life turns out to be somewhat of a legend. The only problem is – he is ONLY interested in the game. As Akane’s feelings grow, will Yamada’s focus stay on the game?
