One of the big changes with Final Fantasy XIII-2 is its focus on being a more traditional, but still open-ended RPG. The Historia Crux time travel system is a big factor in this, and the latest video from Square Enix shows off its potential.
“Artefacts” found throughout allow players to open up different time periods. The same areas can then be explored in multiple ways, with big changes often having occurred over time.
