KAGUYA-SAMA Season 3 Is on the Way, and We Can’t Wait for More…

Kaguya-sama: Love Is War

KAGUYA-SAMA: LOVE IS WAR is all set for a third season this April. The rom-com battler manga-turned-anime has won fans all over the world, and it’s not surprising. Rather than being a stereotypical take on romance, it’s an adorable tale of hard-headed tsunderes in love. And we want more.

More what? Well, honestly, more of everything. The show as a whole is fun, cute, and a nice escape from the world. But if we had to narrow it down…

More Awkward Cuteness

Awkward Kaguya and Miyuki

Okay, we know that the focal point of KAGUYA-SAMA: LOVE IS WAR is the “battles.” As Kaguya and Miyuki scheme over their mutual crushes, they ramp things up to fighting anime levels. In the end, it rarely works out in a way that helps either of them. And as much as we love those hard-headed battles, we love their awkward moments even more.

When one or both of them can’t keep it together, or the crush is too intense to keep under wraps, that’s the quality material. Or, when they simply forget to butt heads. Kaguya sharing a ride on Miyuki’s bicycle, for example. Even if the two of them can’t see it, those moments remind us just how sweet they are together. Or would be. If they’d let themselves.

More Absolute Banger Music (We Hope)

Kaguya and Miyuki face off

Masayuki Suzuki knocked it out of the park with KAGUYA-SAMA season 1’s “Love Dramatic” (feat. Rikka Ihara). Then he came back, this time with Airi Suzuki, for season 2’s “DADDY! DADDY! DO!” Both opening themes are unusual for an anime series, coming from Japan’s “King of Love Songs” and sounding more like classic funk than anison. But the unexpected injection of romance was perfect for this couple.

We don’t know anything yet about the season 3 soundtrack, including whether or not Suzuki will be back for a third opening theme. He feels like an essential part of the show at this point, though. So we have our fingers crossed that he’ll return for another absolute banger. But even if he doesn’t, we’re hopeful that whoever does the new opening will be just as good.

MORE. CHIKA.

Chika!

KAGUYA-SAMA: LOVE IS WAR isn’t just about awkward romance. I mean, it’s primarily about that. But it’s also got a healthy dose of absolute chaos, thanks to the Student Council’s secretary. Chika Fujiwara is cute, friendly, and selectively oblivious. She claims to have an IQ of 3, but we’re not quite sure about that.

Whatever is going on in her head, she manages to throw some entertaining monkey wrenches in Kaguya and Miyuki’s love battles. She’s also a one-girl meme, thanks to the Chika Dance. Remember the Chika Dance? It wasn’t so long ago. You should go and watch it again.

The new season of KAGUYA-SAMA: LOVE IS WAR drops in April 2022. What are you looking forward to most about it?
