Kadokawa Has Established a New 3DCG Anime Studio

Studio Kadan is a new 3DCG and visual effects anime studio founded by the Kadokawa Corporation. Kadokawa has a 97.5% stake in it.

Producer Takeshi Kikuchi has been tapped as the president. Director Hiroyuki Seshita (Knights of Sidonia, Blame!, Levius) is the vice president and the studio is said to be “centered” around him and his background in 3DCG animation.

Studio Kadan will have a few areas it concentrates on. It wants its 3DCG to have a “cel look,” and it will also be working on extended reality (XR) 3D modeling. Beyond anime it will work on computer graphics for video games as well as visuals for live-action properties.

This comes shortly after Kadokawa acquired J-Novel Club to expand its e-book business.
