John Wick “Japanese Anime” Planned, Says Director

John Wick “Japanese Anime” Planned, Says DirectorTurns out there are consequences to John Wick being such a popular series: aside from two live-action spinoff series, it looks like there’s going to be an anime, too.

That’s the word from John Wick director Chad Stahelski on the podcast The Discourse, who said:

“So we’re really looking forward to that [second television series]; we’re really excited about it because we’re doing that and a Japanese anime because I love Japanese anime so much. So to create all the cool stories that anime could achieve better than we could and the TV show to expand our world, we’ll still get our fix, you know what I mean? And we’ll still have all the fun.”

John Wick anime, huh? Sounds pretty wicked — and kind of a fun turn of events after Keanu Reeves was attached for years to the live-action Cowboy Bebop project.

Here’s the official description of the latest Wick film, the fourth in the franchise:

John Wick (Keanu Reeves) uncovers a path to defeating the High Table. But before he can earn his freedom, Wick must face off against a new enemy with powerful alliances across the globe and forces that turn old friends into foes.
