J-Pop Superstar Utada Hikaru Shares Childhood Drawing That Started It All

utada hikaruThere’s something really special about seeing someone rise above the odds and triumph to achieve their long-standing dream. That’s exactly what happened to one of J-Pop’s biggest stars, Utada Hikaru, whose latest release has her teaming up with Skrillex on the theme song for Kingdom Hearts III. The road to the heights of her career was clearly a long one, but just how far back can her ambitions be traced?

In Utada’s case, they go way back to her childhood, as evidenced by a drawing she recently unearthed at one of her previous homes. The drawing itself is pretty self-explanatory, but just in case it’s not clear, the caption sums it up nicely: “When I get older, I want to be a singer.”

Music runs in Utada’s family, sure, but her success has been pretty next level. Here’s proof that even the most far-fetched and wide-eyed dreams can eventually come true:
