It’s Official: Hollywood Pokemon Film On The Way

The rumors are true.

Pokemon will be coming to a silver screen near you courtesy film studio Legendary, according to a report by the Hollywood Reporter.

The film, announced shortly after the augmented reality game Pokemon Go exploded into a blaze of profit for Nintendo and The Pokemon Company, will be fast-tracked to start production in 2017 and will center around Detective Pikachu, recently introduced to the Pokeworld via the 3DS game Great Detective Pikachu.

This isn’t the first time Legendary has taken on a Japanese property for Hollywoodization. They’re also the producers of the 2014 Godzilla film and its upcoming sequels, as well as video game films Dead Rising: Watchtower and Warcraft. Netflix was also reportedly very interested in the property.

Exactly what form will this film take? Your guess is as good as ours, so sound off below!
