J-pop anison idol group i☆Ris—current members of which include Saki Yamakita, Yu Serizawa, Himika Akaneya, Yūki Wakai and Miyu Kubota—is about to make the leap to anime. As revealed during the group’s 10th anniversary live show, i☆Ris 10th Anniversary Live~a Live~, an anime film is currently in the works under the title i☆Ris the Movie -Full Energy!!-.
i☆Ris previously contributed to anime productions in other ways, from starring roles in the PriPara series to performing themes for the likes of Twin Star Exorcists and Magical Sempai. There aren’t many details on the theatrical feature, but it will connect with an overarching anniversary project, and advance tickets will be sold in sets of five.
Beyond the movie, the girls of i☆Ris are planning their eighth live tour—appropriately titled i☆Ris 8th Live Tour 2023—for next year. It’s all set to kick off at Saitama’s Misato City Cultural Hall on April 23, with stops in Aichi, Hokkaido, Osaka, Miyagi, Kanagawa, Fukuoka and, finally, Tokyo Dome City Hall to follow up through June 24.
