Here’s a nice inspiring piece of content that had Japanese Twitter (er, X) abuzz this weekend. The popular illustrator Matsuuni popped onto the social media platform to make the following (awesome) confession:
I had intended to hide this forever, but I’m in my mid-50s. When I was in my 20s, I aimed to be an illustrator but failed. I got inspired to start drawing again when I left my job in my 40s. Now I’m so happy to be working in this area. Now that I’m in my 50s I’m having some tough times because of the things that come with age, but I wanted to share my feelings with you a little bit while I still have energy and strength.
Aside from an impressive follower count on platforms like X, Matsuuni is also the original character designer for the manga and anime series Drug Store in Another World – The Slow Life of a Cheat Pharmacist.
An inspiring reminder not to let age hold you back!
