In December we learned the Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc will be here in April, a year after Black Butler: Public School Arc debuted. Now it’s been revealed that musician HYDE and band Cö shu Nie are joining forces for the anime’s new opening theme song “Maisie.” They’ve never worked together before.
As an added bonus, fans who attend AnimeJapan 2025 on March 23 will have an opportunity to go to an event with the show’s Japanese voice cast. Speaking of which, it had been officially confirmed that Daisuke Ono will be back as Sebastian Michaelis and Maaya Sakamoto will once again voice Ciel Phantomhive.
You can also check out this Otaku USA interview with the lead English actors Brina Palencia (Ciel) and J. Michael Tatum (Sebastian) about returning to the show!
Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc is being made at CloverWorks, with Black Butler: Public School Arc director Kenjirō Okada back in the director’s seat.
Black Butler got its start as a manga series by Yana Toboso. It’s published in America by Yen Press, which gave this description for the story:
Black Butler Plot
Just a stone’s throw from London lies the manor house of the illustrious Phantomhive earldom, its master one Ciel Phantomhive. Earl Phantomhive is a giant in the world of commerce, Queen Victoria’s faithful servant . . . and a slip of a twelve-year old boy. Fortunately, his loyal butler, Sebastian, is ever at his side, ready to carry out the young master’s wishes. And whether Sebastian is called to save a dinner party gone awry or probe the dark secrets of London’s underbelly, there is practically nothing Sebastian cannot do. In fact, one might even say Sebastian is too good to be true . . . or at least, he is too good to be human . . .
Crunchyroll is set to stream Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc when it comes out.
