It’s no secret that content restrictions for games have gotten stricter in recent years, especially when it comes to anything remotely sexual on consoles. Senran Kagura series producer Kenichiro Takaki—appropriately known as the “huge boobs producer”—previously said these restrictions have made his job more difficult, and these issues finally pushed him to end his 13-year career at developer and publisher Marvelous.
While Takaki will still remain the producer of the Senran Kagura series, and he has to finish his work on Senran Kagura 7EVEN, he revealed a new gig at Cygames in a recent interview with Famitsu magazine. There’s currently no word on what he’s working on over there, but he says he eventually wants to create the type of traditional fantasy-style game he loved as a child.
Takaki is concerned with how easily regulations on game content have been increasing recently, and worries it may have a chilling effect on the industry. He knows there’s an audience for the type of games he produces, and believes the variety that comes along with them is a positive side effect for video games as a whole.
In addition to Senran Kagura 7EVEN, Takaki still has a multimedia project in the works at Marvelous, so he’s not totally done with the company. As for what’s next, he plans to continue being the “huge boobs producer” in the future, but there may be something different on the horizon at Cygames and beyond. Takaki hopes his fans will one day say, “He made something amazing even though he’s the oppai producer, what sass!”
