Have a Look at Some Studio Ghibli/Level-5 DS Screens

Way back, possibly before the latest version of the Otaku USA site was live, we passed along the first reports of Ni no Kuni: The Another World, a Nintendo DS collaboration between developer Level-5 (Dragon Quest VIII, Professor Layton) and renowned anime powerhouse, Studio Ghibli (Spirited Away, Nausicaä).

Thanks to this past week’s Tokyo Game Show, more screens and character art has surfaced, and it’s looking mighty nice from this vantage point. The gameplay screens appear to convey the Ghibli style admirably in this single-player RPG, and the actual art, including bits that appear to be from cinematics (and have been seen in some form previously), look more or less like the quality we’ve come to expect from the studio.

What’s most interesting is the fact that Ni no Kuni‘s console platform has still not been announced, and while I won’t wager any serious on-the-record guesses, my first instinct sees them keeping it in the family. Ah crap, I just guessed. Anyway, both versions are slated for Spring ’10 in Japan, so hit the source link below in the meantime for the full gallery of screens.
