Godzilla vs. Kong Delayed in Japan Due to COVID-19

Kaiju fans in Japan—specifically those who dig Legendary Entertainment’s MonsterVerse—will have to wait a little longer to see Godzilla vs. Kong in theaters. The official website updated on Friday to announce that the May 14 opening has been pushed back as a result of the latest State of Emergency put in place as a measure against the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
The State of Emergency is currently set to lift on May 11, but a new date has not been revealed yet for Japan’s theatrical Godzilla vs. Kong premiere.
At the time of this writing, Godzilla vs. Kong has pulled in more than $400 million globally, and is also available to watch on HBO Max in the United States.
