May 6, 2010 Yep, you read the headline correctly. With a title like that, there can’t be much within left to the imagination, right? Regardless of how transparent the name makes this show appear right out the gate, there is slight reason for hope.
Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt‘s reveal comes from the pages of Newtype‘s June issue, which will also include some substantial creative details. For one, the studio’s latest will feature Gurren Lagann and Dead Leaves director Hiroyuki Imaishi back in the chair, with Masahiko Otsuka (FLCL, Gurren Lagann) acting as assistant director. GL‘s Atsushi Nishigori is the main character designer.
So, from what we know at this point, at least the team behind Panty— which concerns two angel girls named Panty and Stocking sent to Earth to battle ghosts—consists of some solid Gainax heavy-hitters. We’ll be sure to update as more info trickles out.
So… anyone looking forward to Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt based on, uh, title alone?
