The Fable Anime Reveals Cast, Half-Year Run

The Fable Anime Reveals Cast, Half-Year RunBack in October we learned the anime adaptation of Katsuhisa Minami’s award-winning manga The Fable would be premiering in April. The hot news today is that The Fable will run continuously for two cours worth of content (24 episodes, give or take). That’s a lot of Fable!

Oh, we also landed the low-down on who’s starring in the series’ main roles. Check it out:

Kazuyuki Okitsu as Akira Sato
Kenjiro Tsuda as Kojima
Miyuki Sawashiro as Yoko Sato
Tetsuo Komura as The Boss
Kana Hanazawa as Misaki Shimizu
Jun Fukushima as Jackal Tomioka
Akio Ohtsuka as Takeshi Ebihara

Finally, there’s a new piece of key art, which you can see in full below. The copy reads, “if possible, I’d like to live in peace for a year without killing anyone.” Same here, bro.

Ryosuke Takahashi (Armored Trooper VOTOMS) is lined up to direct at Tezuka Productions, with Mayumi Morita writing scripts and Yuya Takashima writing and overseeing said scripts. Hisama Kinoshia, Saki Hasegawa and Junichi Hayama are among the character designers.

Minami’s manga ran in the pages of Weekly Young Magazine from November 2014 to November 2019, followed by a sequel, The Fable: The Second Contract, that debuted in July 2021. There’ve been a couple live-action film adaptations as well.

Kodansha USA publishes the manga in English and describes it like so:

When you’re the infamous “genius killer” hitman The Fable, many things come easy. Being a normal person, however, isn’t one of them. In fact, being told that he can’t kill anyone for a while may just be the hardest job he’s ever taken…
