Dragon Ball Super Manga to Return on December 21

dragon ball super manga

We’ve gone a couple months without writer Akira Toriyama and illustrator Toyotarou’s Dragon Ball Super manga, but it’s finally getting ready to make its return. The series went on hiatus back in August, and now it’s set to come back to the pages of V Jump on December 21.

Next up for the series is the Super Hero arc, which offers up a twist on the story of Dragon Ball Super: SUPER HERO. Instead of directly adapting the hit anime film, the manga will follow Goten and Trunks as they protect the city. Check out a preview image below.

VIZ Media publishes the manga in its Shonen Jump app and physically, describing it like so:

Having defeated Boo, Goku is starting to get bored with his life on Earth. His wife, Chi-chi, wants him to get a job, but all he wants to do is train and fight stronger enemies. Elsewhere in the universe, the God of Destruction, Beerus, and his attendant Whis are traveling from planet to planet in search of food and entertainment. After blowing up some hapless victims, Beerus is reminded of a man from his dreams with the moniker “Super Saiyan God,” or something like that… The God of Destruction sets his sights on Earth to track down this mysterious man! Maybe this will give Goku something to do?
