Disney has a major collection on the way for fans of Studio Ghibli and Hayao Miyazaki. The Collected Works of Hayao Miyazaki Blu-ray set is due out on November 17 as an Amazon exclusive, and it comes packing eleven feature films and some extras that fans will definitely want to dig into.
The films included in the set are Lupin the Third: The Castle of Cagliostro, Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, Castle in the Sky, My Neighor Totoro, Kiki’s Delivery Service, Porco Rosso, Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, Howl’s Moving Castle, Ponyo, and The Wind Rises.
In addition to having all of Miyazaki’s Ghibli features in one handy set, the collection’s extras are solid. Topping the list is Yuki no Taiyo (Yuki’s Sun), a TV pilot based on a manga by Tetsuya Chiba, storyboarded and directed by Miyazaki in 1972. There are also three episodes—26, 27, and 41—of 1972 anime series Akado Suzunosuke that Miyazaki directed.
Other extras include the uncut version of Miyazaki’s Retirement Press Conference and a book that contains author Tomohiro Machiyama’s The Great Dichotomy: Looking at the Works of Hayao Miyazaki. A similar set was released in Japan with the same extras last June, and Australia got the set in April courtesy of Madman Entertainment.
