Like clockwork, the latest annual Detective Conan film is headed to Japanese theaters this April. The film, which is called One-Eyed Flashback (that’s the direct translation, anyway; I haven’t seen an official English title revealed yet) has just dropped its main piece of key art as well as a fresh 90-second trailer.
The film, the 28th in the franchise, is helmed by Katsuya Shigehara in his Conan directorial debut after working as unit director on Black Iron Submarine in 2022. It’s written by Takeharu Sakurai, who has penned several Conan films, most recently 2021’s The Scarlet Bullet. It has a prominent role for Conan’s guardian/Ran’s dad/detective non-extraordinaire Kogoro Mōri. The film is set in Nagano Prefecture.
Last year’s Detective Conan: Million-dollar Pentagram was both the highest-grossing Conan film ever and the #1 film at the Japanese box office for 2024. No pressure, One-Eyed Flashback.
