Crunchyroll stated that it’s upping the costs on its Mega Fan and Ultimate Fan subscriptions. This is happening in the U.S., Argentina, Colombia, France, Portugal and “select other countries.”
The Mega Fan tier, which was $9.99 each month, will now be $11.99 each month. As for the Ultimate Fan tier, it’s going from $14.99 a month to $15.99 a month. People who have the Fan tier will have their prices stay the same at $7.99.
In an email to subscribers, Crunchyroll clarified, “Changes will be reflected in your next billing cycle starting on 2024-06-15, and will be charged to your current payment method on file.”
There are additionally changes in the free-trial period. Previously people could try out Crunchyroll for two weeks. Now it’s one week.
Crunchyroll says these differences are meant to “reflect. . . the increase in content on Crunchyroll in recent years, expanding its catalog to more than 45,000 episodes via 1,400 series and films.”
Anime News Network reports that it asked Crunchyroll about potential price changes. In February, Crunchyroll said it had “no announcements about a price change at this time” and it also said it couldn’t anticipate if there would be changes in the next couple of years.
