Crayon Shin-chan Anime Gets First New Opening Song in Five Years

Fruits Zipper

Something major is coming to the Crayon Shin-chan anime… a new theme song! That might not seem like a big deal for most anime, but Shin-chan hasn’t changed its opening theme song since 2020, which is when Ketsumeishi’s “Superstar” began kicking off new episodes.

Starting this fall, that song will make way for a track from idol group Fruits Zipper. As announced during their NEW KAWAII Fest this week, the group will perform “Haccha Meccha Waccha LIFE!” as the new Shin-chan opening starting in October.

Based on the manga by Yoshito Usui, which was serialized from 1990-2010, the Crayon Shin-chan anime has been airing since 1992 and has over 1,200 episodes.

We don’t get much in the way of Crayon Shin-chan in the west, but we did recently get two of the latest games, including Shin chan: Shiro and the Coal Town! You can check out our review here.
