Classic Sailor Moon Anime is Back on Toonami Later This Month

Sailor Moon

So much of the Sailor Moon saga is easily available to watch now, including the recent Sailor Moon Cosmos movie, but nothing beats the nostalgia of catching the Guardians on TV. Thankfully, that’s still an option, because the classic Sailor Moon anime is getting ready to return to Adult Swim’s Toonami block.

Sailor Moon will be back on the block as of Saturday, January 25, but since it doesn’t air until 3:00am it’s basically the wee hours of Sunday. As for where they’ll be picking up with the series again, Toonami didn’t specify, but here’s the full schedule for that night:

  • 12:00am – Mashle: Magic and Muscles
  • 12:30am – Invincible Fight Girl
  • 1:00am – Blue Exorcist
  • 1:30am – One Piece
  • 2:00am – Dragon Ball Z Kai
  • 2:30am – Naruto
  • 3:00am – Sailor Moon

Previously, Sailor Moon was airing as part of the Toonami Rewind block on Fridays, but that came to an end in 2023.

Based on the manga by Naoko Takeuchi, the Sailor Moon anime is available on Blu-ray from VIZ Media, which describes the series like so:

Sailor Moon Plot

Usagi Tsukino is a cheerful 14-year-old schoolgirl who often finds herself in unwanted trouble. One day, she saves a talking cat named Luna from some mean kids, and her life is changed forever. Luna gives Usagi a magic brooch that transforms her into Sailor Moon, guardian of love and justice! Now Usagi must work with Luna to find the other Sailor Guardians and the Moon Princess, whose Legendary Silver Crystal is Earth’s only hope against the dark forces of the evil Queen Beryl!
