Sayonara, Tyranno—also known as Annyeong, Tyrano: Yeong-wonhi or My Tyrano: Together, Forever—is a Chinese-Japanese-South Korean co-production that’s based on the series of children’s books by Tatsuya Miyanishi. It’s on the way to cinemas in Japan on December 10, and a new video previews the film’s opening two minutes.
Check out the first part of the movie—including narration by the original author—below.
Sayonara, Tyranno‘s original summer 2020 opening was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Kobun Shizuno (Godzilla anime film trilogy) directed the feature, based on a script by Dai Sato, Kimiko Ueno, and Naohira Fukushima, and Tezuka Production provided the animation. The film stars Shinichiro Miki as Tyrano and Kaori Ishihara as Punon.
Tatsuya Miyanishi’s books—which kicked off in 2003—previously inspired 2010 movie You Are Umasou, which was followed by a second film, Anata o Zutto Aishiteru in 2015. There’s also a series of TV anime shorts titled Miyanishi Tatsuya Gekijou: Omae Umasou da na.
