Boy and the Beast Characters Promote Green Dakara Drink

The hype train for the new Mamoru Hosoda film, The Boy and the Beast, is chugging along at full steam. And speaking of chugging, the latest ad for the film features its main characters gulping down some Green Dakara, a Japanese drink brand.

The ad is yet another example of Japan’s uncanny ability to merge two seemingly unrelated products: in this case the new film from the director of Summer Wars and Wolf Children and a refreshing summer drink.

In the ad, Green Dakara’s mascots enter the world of The Boy and the Beast and offer the film’s main characters, Kumatetsu and Kyuta, some ice cold Green Dakara to chill out after some hard training.

Just like the film, the commercial was directed by Hosoda produced by his Studio Chizu.

The Boy and the Beast will open in Japan July 11, and we’ll have a review of it right here.
