Futabasha’s Monster Label light novel line recently opened a 10th anniversary site, and one of the reveals came in the form of a Betrothed to My Sister’s Ex anime adaptation. Written by Tobirano and known as Zutaboro Reijou wa Ane no Moto Konyakusha ni Dekiai sareru in Japan, the novel series currently has its anime adaptation penciled in for sometime in 2025.

The Betrothed to My Sister’s Ex novels first started via self-publishing on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website—on which a ton of series have launched to great success, including the likes of Fuse’s That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime—back in October 2019, with a print edition following in April 2020. The series has been collected in seven volumes as of May 2024, and there’s also a manga adaptation featuring the art of Chikage Nakagura.

Pocket Comics publishes an English version of the manga adaptation and describes the story like so:

Betrothed to My Sister’s Ex Plot

With unmaintained red hair and shabby clothes, Marie, the baron’s daughter, has been treated like a servant all her life. Count Granado, the country’s richest man, who is said to be a difficult misogynist, falls in love with her at first sight. However, due to a misunderstanding, Count Granado proposes to her sister Anastasia, who looks like a princess, instead of the ragged Marie. A very popular work from “Become a Novelist”! Marie’s Cinderella story that began with a hero’s misunderstanding!
