A premiere date has been confirmed for the Anne Shirley anime, which will be the latest project to adapt the classic Ann of Green Gables novel series by Lucy Maud Montgomery. The series is set to premiere in Japan on April 5, and you can see a new teaser video and the latest info on the staff and more below.

Newly confirmed staff members include animation directors Yuji Watanabe and Naoko Saito, art director Tadashi Kudo, color key artist Shiho Kuriki, compositing director of photography Shinji Saito, sound director Kisuke Koizumi and music composer Michiru Oshima.
The anime stars Honoka Inoue as Anne Shirley, Aya Nakamura as Marilla Cuthbert, Yasunori Matsumoto as Matthew Cuthbert, Naoya Miyase as Gilbert Blythe and Yume Miyamoto as Diana Barry.
Anne of Green Gables previously inspired a 1979 TV anime directed by a pre-Ghibli Isao Takahata, with Hayao Miyazaki working on layout and designs for the first 15 episodes. Yoshifumi Kondo, another future Ghibli director, handled character designs and animation production supervision.
