Comics and graphic novel publisher ABLAZE—publisher of Centaurs and more—has a new horror manga on the way with the license of Masaaki Ninomiya’s GANNIBAL manga. The tense thriller is set to kick off with the release of volume 1 in November 2023, followed by volume 2 in February 2024.

The 13-volume manga was first published in Japan by Nihon Bungeisha, and has been adapted into a live-action TV series helmed by Missing (the J-horror movie) director Shinzo Katayama. Starring Yuya Yagira, Sho Kasamatsu and Riho Yoshioka, the series is currently streaming on Disney+/Hulu.

Here’s the official synopsis for the GANNIBAL manga:

In GANNIBAL, Daigo Agawa is a resident police officer who has been recently assigned to the remote mountain village of Kuge. He is initially warmly welcomed by the villagers, but with the suspicious death of an old woman, he gradually becomes aware of the anomaly of the village and begins to suspect that “The people in this village are eating people.”
