We may just have the manga over here, courtesy of Del Rey, but Tomoko Ninomiya’s Nodame Cantabile is a bonafied phenomenon overseas. Aside from the twenty-plus collected volumes, there are two seasons of anime with a third on the horizon, games (on DS, Wii, and Playstation 2), a live-action TV drama series, and now it’s time for these musicians to hit an even bigger screen.
Nodame Cantabile Saishu Gakusho Zenpen (Nodame Cantabile: The Final Score – Part 1) is the first of two films that act as sequels to the TV drama, featuring the same set of actors and directed by Hideki Takeuchi. Part one hits Japan on December 19, 2009, with part two coming on April 17 of next year. Check out the trailer for this first chapter below, and head to our forums if you’re itching to talk about the series in any way.
