A Further Look at Dragon Ball Online

Okay, I don’t want to make any enemies here or anything because I know there are a ton of you out there, so I’ll phrase this delicately: I am not moved by what MMORPGs have to offer. Was that statement diplomatic enough? It’s tough to tell, but I will say that even my interest is piqued when you throw Akira Toriyama’s Dragon Ball universe into the equation.

Don’t get too excited, I’m not going to go jumping into World of Warcraft in breathlessly converted anticipation or anything. But have a gander at the latest footage of the game below and see if your eyebrow rises slightly, as mine did.

Taking place 200 years after the end of the manga, Dragon Ball Online lets the player customize their own characters, choosing from the series’ many famous races. It all has that special Akira Toriyama touch to it, which is what really makes me want to betray all of my concreted values and dive into the thick of it. Who knows when or if we’ll be playing it, though, as the game’s release is currently just announced for this year in South Korea. In the meantime, it sure looks nice!
