This October will mark five years since the premiere of the JUJUTSU KAISEN anime, which first kicked off on October 3, 2020. The folks behind it are gearing up to celebrate with a special livestream event later this month, and some big announcements are planned for the occasion.
JUJUTSU KAISEN voice cast members Junya Enoki (Yuji Itadori), Yuma Uchida (Megumi Fushiguro) and Asami Seto (Nobara Kugisaki) will be on hand for the stream, which will look back at the history of the series, spotlight the Phantom Parade mobile game and peek ahead at what’s next. Five “major” announcements have been teased, including new art and footage from future developments.
While we wait to see what’s in store, you can see the event’s key art above. You’ll be able to catch the special stream right here on August 31:
The JUJUTSU KAISEN series began in 2018 with Gege Akutami’s manga, which was published by Weekly Shonen Jump magazine and ended in 2024. It didn’t take long for the series to become popular, and two years later the anime commenced. The first season consisted of 24 episodes.
After that came the movie JUJUTSU KAISEN 0, which was released in late 2021.
Then season two got going in summer 2023. The first part covered the “Hidden Inventory / Premature Death” arc (a.k.a. “Kaigyoku/Gyokusetsu” in Japanese). The second part got into the Shibuya Incident arc. The first arc was also compiled in a theatrical feature that made its way to North America via GKIDS.
Crunchyroll streams the anime adaptation. VIZ Media publishes the original manga in English and gave this description for the first volume:
Although Yuji Itadori looks like your average teenager, his immense physical strength is something to behold! Every sports club wants him to join, but Itadori would rather hang out with the school outcasts in the Occult Research Club. One day, the club manages to get their hands on a sealed cursed object. Little do they know the terror they’ll unleash when they break the seal…
