As part of its events marking the 40th anniversary of Studio Ghibli, distributor GKIDS is bringing 1997’s Princess Mononoke to the big screen in America and Canada. The movie, which has a new 4K restoration, will exclusively hit IMAX theaters on March 26.
GKIDS explained, “The IMAX version of the film was created from a new 4K restoration directly overseen by Studio Ghibli’s own Atsushi Okui, who has been involved in nearly every major Studio Ghibli project since he first started at the studio in 1993.” His job in the Oscar-winning The Boy and the Heron was as the Director of Digital Imaging.

As is often the case with anime movies in North American theaters, fans will have the option to watch it either dubbed or in Japanese with subtitles.
