Following the Japanese theatrical run of Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning-, it’s time to look ahead to the full TV anime series. The official website went live with an update this weekend, setting the series up for an April 8 premiere in Japan.
There’s also a stage event planned for AnimeJapan 2025 this March, so we might get even more info there. In the meantime, check out the short promo video below.
Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning- opened in Japan on January 17, and GKIDS will release it in North America on February 28.
The series has Kazuya Tsurumaki of FLCL and Gunbuster 2: Diebuster helming the project as director. The scripts are being written by Hideaki Anno, creator of the Evangelion franchise, as well as Yōji Enokido, whose credits include Ouran High School Host Club, Sailor Moon Super S, and Revolutionary Girl Utena.
Credit for character design goes to Take, an illustrator known for Katanagatari and Pokémon Sun & Moon. The mechanical designer is Ikuto Yamashita, who has also worked on Evangelion.
As for other members of the crew, Yumi Ikeda and Shie Kobori are credited with Animation Character Design, Supervising Character Animation Director.
Looking toward the main cast, Tomoyo Kurosawa plays Amate Yuzuriha, Yui Ishikawa plays Nyaan, and Shimba Tsuchiya plays Shuji Ito.

Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX Plot
Amate Yuzuriha is a high-school student living peacefully in a space colony floating in outer space.
When she meets a war refugee named Nyaan, Amate is drawn into the illegal mobile suit dueling sport known as Clan Battle.
Under the entry name “Machu,” she throws herself into fierce battle day after day, piloting the GQuuuuuuX. Then an unidentified Gundam mobile suit pursued by both the space force and the police appears before her, along with its pilot, a boy named Shuji.
Now their world is about to enter a new era.
