Here’s what &TEAM had to say about the opportunity, as translated by Crunchyroll News:

It is a great honor for us to be cast in the movie “Ya Boy Kongming!,” which has been loved by many people for both the original manga and the drama. We were nervous to be cast in a key roles in the film, even though it was our first time to appear in a movie, but we were welcomed warmly on the set and by all the cast members and were able to perform. We look forward to showing our performance scenes on the screen.

Zhuge Kongming actor Osamu Mukai also commented on working with the group:

It was one of the most exciting events of 2024 to be able to perform with &TEAM, whose activities and popularity are expanding at a tremendous pace! When they appeared as secret guests, the voltage of the 6,000 people in the audience was at its highest and their performance was outstanding.

But I was also struck by their polite and serious genuine attitude when they got off the stage and the cameras were off. The scenes in the film are wonderful, and I look forward to seeing more activities of &TEAM in the future!

HIDIVE streamed the Ya Boy Kongming! anime as it aired and Kodansha USA publishes the manga digitally, describing it like so:

Ya Boy Kongming! Plot

General of the Three Kingdoms, Kongming had struggled his whole life, facing countless battles that made him into the accomplished strategist he was. So on his deathbed, he wished only to be reborn into a peaceful world… and was sent straight to modern-day party-central, Tokyo! Can even a brilliant strategist like Kongming adapt to the wild beats and even wilder party people?!
