At least in some parts of the world, Thanksgiving is here again. That may mean time with friends, time with family, dog shows, or sports. But to some degree, it also means food. And, as in years past, we’re here to serve up some delicious anime recommendations! From fresh new shows to some you may have missed in recent years, get ready to dig in to this trio of tasty titles.
Delicious Party Precure
If there’s an anime that embodies the spirit of Thanksgiving, it’s absolutely Delicious Party Precure. The 2022 installment of the long-running magical girl anime had a focus on food on all kinds… or, well, at least there kinds. Japanese, Western, and Chinese fare took center stage, with a fourth Cure harnessing the power of desserts mid-season. The mascots even looked like a combination of cute animals and tasty treats.
But this season of Precure is about more than just the food itself. It’s about the smiles food brings when it’s shared, and how making food for our loved ones connects us. It’s a great sentiment to remember, especially as many of us are doing just that for our family and friends today!
Campfire Cooking in Another World
Thanksgiving doesn’t have to be a fancy affair. As long as there’s friends and food, it’s a celebration. And the isekai series Campfire Cooking in Another World with My Absurd Skill is of the same mind. Protagonist Mukoda finds himself transported to a fantasy world. His power? He can shop online (like on the normal world Internet) and have groceries magically delivered to him. The locals will never know it, but his delicious dishes are made with things we all take for granted.
Moreover, Mukoda’s cooking appears to have some sort of magical buff—meaning he has to be careful how often he serves it to the locals. This cooking has also caught the eye of the local wolf god, who’s a fan of his otherworldly dishes. While the food is technically everyday stuff, it still looks fantastic.
Delicious in Dungeon
Our Thanksgiving food anime list wouldn’t be complete without Delicious in Dungeon! While there’s much more to this show than the food (which people who hadn’t read the manga learned the hard way), the food is a major aspect of it. It turns out just about any fantasy monster is edible if you’re not a coward… or if you have Senshi in your party.
From mimic to kelpie to painted feasts, Laios is on deck to try absolutely all of it. And Senshi can make even the most unlikely of creatures look mouthwatering. Whether Marcille is willing to admit it or not…
