Egumi Sora’s OKITSURA: Fell in Love with an Okinawan Girl, but I Just Wish I Know What She’s Saying (Okinawa de Suki ni Natta Ko ga Hōgen Sugite Tsurasugiru) manga has a TV anime adaptation on the way, and a new update arrived courtesy of the show’s staff.

The latest includes a new visual, pictured above, and details about the anime’s opening song. When OKITSURA premieres in January 2025, it will open to the tune of “Dai Dai Daisuki” (“I Really, Really Love You”) by four-piece band HY.

Crunchyroll already announced plans to stream the series, which has Shin Itagaki (Berserk 2016, Teekyu) serving as chief director and Shingo Tanabe (I Got a Cheat Skill in Another World) directing, with both overseeing scripts. Tomohiro Yoshida (chief animation director on So I’m a Spider, So What?) is handling characters designs and Yoshimi Katayama and Ayano Kinjo are composing music for the Millepensee production.

The Kurage Bunch web manga platform publishes the original manga and sums up the story:

OKITSURA Plot

I, Teruaki Nakamura, transferred to Okinawa and fell in love with a girl… but I can’t understand her dialect. Thankfully, Higa-san is always helping me out with translations.

A cross-cultural romance that’s a wee-bit different begins on the southern island!
