Back in February, it was announced that the Murai in Love anime would be heading to Disney+ this fall. While that may indeed be the case for Japan, the latest update has Hulu U.S. exclusively streaming the adaptation of Junta Shima’s manga and billing it as a Hulu Original.
While the broadcast premiere isn’t scheduled to drop until October 6 in Japan, the series started its Disney+ run in the region today. Similarly, the first episode is now available on Hulu in the United States, so you can see how it shapes up immediately after reading this article!
Murai in Love is being directed by Yoshiki Yamakawa (The Duke of Death and His Maid), with Susumu Yamakawa (The Way of the Househusband) on scripts and Ruka Kawada composing music for the J.C. Staff production. Stars include Kengo Takanashi as Murai, Yoko Hikasa as Ayano Tanaka and Nobunaga Shimazaki as Hitotose.
The series follows a high school teacher who loves otome games named Tanaka, and a high school boy named Murai who is in love with Tanaka. Murai confesses but is rejected by Tanaka, who has never been in a real-life romance before. This might change, however, when Murai makes a move and transforms himself into the exact likeness of a beloved character from Tanaka’s favorite otome game.
