The Colors Within, the latest anime film from director Naoko Yamada (The Heike Story, A Silent Voice) and production house Science SARU, is set to open in English this winter. Ahead of that, an earlier trailer has returned, this time with English subtitles courtesy of distributor GKIDS.
Check it out below while we wait for further details on the North American release.

The film just opened in Japan on Friday, August 30, so it’s still very fresh and continues to rack up accolades. Back in June, it won the Best Animation Film award at the 26th Shanghai International Film Festival.
Here’s how Annecy describes The Colors Within:
The Colors Within Plot
Synesthete Totsuko can see others as colors. Honor student Kimi has dropped out of school but still pretends to attend for her grandmother’s sake. They reunite and decide to form a band with Rui, who dreams of composing on analog synthesizers but whose mother expects him to become a doctor. Together, they find freedom, joy, and love.
