*sniff* I’m getting notes of vanilla, oak and… combat vehicles.
Armored Trooper VOTOMS, the long-running mecha action series created by Ryosuke Takahashi, now has its own official whiskey.
It’s a single malt scotch, to be specific, called Fettercairn 2010, which is described as having “a deep body with nutty and dried fruit aromas, powdery and juicy flavors, and a rich finish.”
What’s the difference between this VOTOMS whiskey and a regular bottle of Fettercairn 2010? Well, y’know, the cool logo on the bottle.
There are a total of 338 bottles. Each goes for 18,700 yen, or $121 at today’s crazy exchange rates. Sales start on May 16.
Here’s the official description of VOTOMS, which our own Mike Dent describes as “easily the definitive Real Robot anime of the 80s.”
The series revolves around Chirico Cuvie, a battle-worn soldier who accidentally becomes involved in a mission to steal military secrets from allied forces. However, during the mission, he discovers that the real reason behind the assignment is a beautiful woman locked inside a container. Barely escaping alive and running from his own army, he’ll have to fight to unravel the truth behind the betrayal, the mysterious woman, and the conspirators who will do anything to silence him.
