The irregular at magic high school sequel anime series is coming out sometime this year, and a trailer for it has dropped. In it, we learn that LiSA, who might be best known to otaku for performing the Demon Slayer opening theme song “Gurenge,” will also be lending her voice talents to the new opening song for The irregular at magic high school. When the trailer says “NEXT” and gives tomorrow’s date, that’s a way of saying that it will give more info on the anime then.
LiSA also sang the theme song for the first TV anime 10 years ago.
The cast is reprising their roles, and Saori Hayami plays Miyuki Shiba, Yūichi Nakamura plays Tatsuya Shiba, and Kiyono Yasuno plays Minami Sakurai.
The anime is being made at 8-Bit, with Jimmy Stone, who has worked in this franchise before, helming the project as director. The music is composed by Taku Iwasaki, who, along with working in this franchise, has worked on Black Butler, Bungo Stray Dogs, and Gurren Lagann.
The original The irregular at magic high school anime debuted in 2014.
Yen Press releases the original light novels (known as Mahōka Kōkō no Rettōsei in Japanese), which were written by Tsutomu Sato and illustrated by Kana Ishida. Yen Press gave this description for the first volume:
The year is 2095. Magic has been tamed as another form of technology, and the practice of magic is now a rigorous discipline. Brother and sister Tatsuya and Miyuki Shiba are just about to start their first year at the renowned First Magic High School of Japan. Yen Press also releases the spinoff manga The Honor Student at Magic High School by Yu Mori.
