Blue Exorcist Manga Author Takes Month Off to Recover from COVID

The ongoing Blue Exorcist manga is taking a bit of a break so the author can recover. Kazue Kato recently contracted COVID-19, so the artist is putting the series on hold for one month to get better. Blue Exorcist will return to the pages of Shueisha’s Jump SQ. magazine in time for the December issue.

There was also an autograph session on the horizon, but that will be pushed back to January 2024.

The Blue Exorcist manga first kicked off back in 2009, and has been collected in 29 volumes as of July 4, 2023. VIZ Media publishes the series in English and describes it like so:

Raised by Father Fujimoto, a famous exorcist, Rin Okumura never knew his real father. One day a fateful argument with Father Fujimoto forces Rin to face a terrible truth—the blood of the demon lord Satan runs in Rin’s veins! Rin swears to defeat Satan, but doing that means entering the mysterious True Cross Academy and becoming an exorcist himself. Can Rin fight demons and keep his infernal bloodline a secret? It won’t be easy, especially when drawing his father’s sword releases the demonic power within him!

As previously reported, a new Blue Exorcist anime is on the way in January 2024.
