Check Out the First Haikyu!! Final Sequel Movie in New Trailer

haikyu!! final

There is a two-parter Haikyu!! Final sequel film project going on, and the trailer for the first movie just dropped. The movie is called Gekijōban Haikyu!! Gomi Suteba no Kessen (which is translated as Haikyu!! the Movie: Decisive Battle at the Garbage Dump). The trailer was released during Haikyu!! Festa 2023, a perfect time to unveil footage and information like this.

According to the trailer, Susumu Mitsunaka is helming the project as director and penning the script. Mitsunaka previously worked on both the first and third Haikyu!! TV anime seasons.

Meanwhile, the first movie is scheduled to come out on February 16, 2024. It’s not yet revealed when the second movie will premiere.

We first learned about this two-film project in August 2022.

VIZ Media publishes the original Haikyu!! manga by Haruichi Furudate and gave this description for the first volume:

After losing his first and last volleyball match against Tobio Kageyama, “the King of the Court,” Shoyo Hinata swears to become his rival after graduating middle school. But what happens when the guy he wants to defeat ends up being his teammate?!

The manga debuted in 2011 and quickly become a hit. It completed almost a decade later, in 2020, and consists of 45 volumes.

It got its first anime adaptation in 2014, thanks to Production I.G. The second and third seasons came out annually, but then the fourth season, titled Haikyu!! To The Top, didn’t come out until 2020. The second part of that season also was postponed because of COVID 19 issues.

But the franchise hasn’t just consisted of manga and anime. There are also compilation of anime movies, stage plays, and a clay-animated short, among other things.
