The anime series project based on Shigeru Mizuki’s Akuma-kun manga has global release plans in place. As revealed on the official Twitter account for the Kitaro Tanjo: Gegege no Nazo (Kintaro Birth: The Mystery of Gegege) anime film, the series is currently gearing up for a simultaneous worldwide debut on Netflix this fall.
The Akuma-kun manga ran in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine from 1966 to 1967 and Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump from 1970 to 1971, previously inspiring a TV anime from Toei Animation in 1989. Toei is back and working with Encourage Films on the new project, with Junichi Sato serving as general director and Fumitoshi Oizaki directing, based on series composition by Hiroshi Onogi.
