The hotly anticipated SPY X FAMILY musical stage play is set to debut this spring, starting in Tokyo on March 8. In April it will move on to Hyogo Prefecture and in May it will be over in Fukuoka. That’s still some time away, and in the meanwhile the play has been sharing tidbits, like early imagery of the actors playing Loid and Yor. Now we got the most revealing thing yet — a teaser trailer.
We can see more of the actors in it. Both Kurumu Okamiya and Tsubasa Takizawa have been cast to play Yor’s brother Yuri Briar. This is a common technique in Japanese theaters where roles with big parts are given alternating actors.
Looking to important but less prominent characters, Manato Asaka has been cast as Sylvia Sherwood, Soma Suzuki has been cast as Henry Henderson, Kento Kinouchi has been cast as Franky Franklin, and Nonoka Yamaguchi has been cast as Fiona Frost.
Many people might be left wondering, “Where is Anya?” Well, they’re still auditioning for her. And while sometimes adult actors are cast in plays to act as children, that won’t be the case here. Instead, the musical explains it’s having “Operation Search for Anya” auditions to find the right young actress . . . or, more likely, the right young alternating actresses.
VIZ Media publishes the bestselling manga series by Tatsuya Endo in English, and gave this description for the first volume:
